“REAL-TIME” GROUP SHOW, CURATED BY KOKI – SEPTEMBER 2024

There were five dreams.

The room had five corners and five walls.

*****

How to Watch Clouds

They are just there, there is nothing more to it. Take a photograph as it unfolds, capturing a moment that will never be in real-time.

How to Make Soap

Order the ingredients. While waiting, make and cure the mould. When everything is ready, mix them in the right parts, suspending time — a suspension of time. When it is ghostly, almost intimate, then it is ready. Note the lingering scent.

How to Make Bread

Take the time to make a two-hour flatbread. It then replays like a vision.

How to Paint a Butterfly

Paint for the butterflies. Because the most fragile things ask for the most care. While they shy away from the crowd, they exist to be seen. What you see are gestures, recorded movements. The paintings move like ghosts, alive and coming out of a void of light.

How to Fetch a Bone

Take a dive into a deeper consciousness. Ask yourself: what does it mean? Keep in mind the notion that civilization is illustrated by a once broken, then later healed femur. In the end, all bone returns to dust, to black carbon that is all of us.

would you consider making sense of something that doesn’t? real-time is opposed to dream-time, which is always tentative. to summon this real-time is to ponder what is real, and what is time. dreams are not real, or are they? in dreams, time loses its timeliness, or it gains a timelessness in the dream they crossed the sea for 49 days. when he woke up, he had dozed off for 17 minutes and 51 seconds. real-time is relative as it unravels, it has an inherent capacity to degrade. in real-ity, these dreams are all part of a singular consciousness. breathing, living, it expands and contracts. they might be from varied origins, but they all intersect. macabre and mundane events complement each vision, as dreams transition into real-time. the same thing happening, seen from different sides become different events, but remain the same. all trajectories, dream-like in some fashion, unexpectedly collide as planned. the viewer watches a dream unfold in real-time.
